EILEEN TICHAUER ARTIST STATEMENT/BIO/CV

Growing up in New York City and living in Toronto I have always been inspired by the vibrancy of my surroundings.

In earlier works my abstract paintings depicted the feelings of aerial views of cities and towns. Now they include the observations of life experiences and the dreams we have. Each abstract painting is created in a playful and distinctive style.

The colorful paintings have evolved into a kaleidoscope of patterns using the playfulness of the color and shapes to enhance, intensify and elevate the visual experience of the designs.

I work as if completing a puzzle, balancing the flow of color and shape while repeating patterns that create a sense of movement and harmony. The shapes are all drawn and painted free hand which allows for more organic variation within the design.

My art is a process based on what I feel inwardly and my interpretation of the experience I have with my surroundings and in my life.

I have a BA in Fine Art’s from LIU, CW Post, I studied art in University primarily as a printmaker. I was in search of a new way to express my creativity that would allow me to have more flexibility. Working with acrylic paint on canvas offered me this freedom as well as an opportunity to work on a larger scale.
